Confidential/Portland, MESales & Marketing Manager Company Summary: Founded in 1975 it is the longest running laboratory dedicated to compost analysis and is a leader in the push for biogas energy utilizing green wastes. Company has a national consulting practice related to compost analysis, product biodegradability, green energy and measurement of quality of organic compounds. Founder has developed a line of products with wide application for large compost facilities, soil laboratories and the grain industry. Although the product consists of a high-quality leading edge instrument that allows purchasers to determine market quality of organic materials quickly and accurately, sales of these products have not been prioritized by the Company. The Company today consists of laboratory science professionals who have developed an international reputation for their expertise. Position Summary: The Manager of Sales & Marketing will report directly to President and carry full responsibilities for both Marketing and Sales for the instrumentation product line. Founder is expecting this position to provide broad oversight to the line of business, develop a customer relations management process, assess potential of composting, soils management and grain segments, and fully evaluate strategies to penetrate those markets. The position will work closely with President to prioritize strategies for each customer segment, and then allocate a majority of time to direct sales. Specific Responsibilities: 1. Become grounded in the business by developing a solid understanding of the existing laboratory and consulting lines and the ability to communicate related technical concepts when meeting customers in the field. 2. Develop and recommend the Solvita marketing plan. 3. Develop and maintain a customer relationship management program to identify high potential customers and maximize customer service generally a. Much of the early work will involve direct sales to customers of greatest potential, and will include extensive travel within the United States. b. This will initially be a one-person sales staff; however, with sales growth, development and management of a sales and customer support team will be required. 4. Execute sales and marketing strategies to penetrate composting, soils management and grain customer segments. 5. Communicate effectively with the Lab team to orchestrate integration of solvita product manufacturing needs with other lab requirements and ensure excellent customer service. Product has broad application in many industries and has limited competition. This will be a high-growth business and the Head of Sales and Marketing will play a strategic role with Founder to develop appropriate targets for growth and develop a company structure that is appropriate for forecast levels of sales. The team of scientific and business personnel will work together to build the company to its potential and share in the rewards that come with significant growth and profitability. Qualifications preferred: ââ¬Â¢ Solid foundation in soil biology, environmental science or related field gained through actual business experience. ââ¬Â¢ Sales and Marketing experience that includes demonstrated individual success growing market share in a related business.
